carry on by hamilton cline
waiting for your eyes to tell me something i don't know
waiting for the ties that bind to bring me to the shore
and let me dance upon the waves so peaceful and carefree
and take me far away from all the pain you brought to me
i'm waiting to be told that life is catching up to me
i'm standing in the line and now it's getting hard to see
your hair is tangled once again your eyes are very cold
and the look that you are sending me makes me feel very old
and you never told the truth to me and it seemed you always lied
and now something deep inside of me wants to be let outside
and i never really saw the way your smile would turn awry
that the words coming out of your mouth were nothing but a lie
and i'm running now trying deperately to flee
and i wish that you were just a distant memory
but your voice keeps crashing back into my head
and my mind just won't forget the awful things you said
but maybe things won't be so bad if i can just move on
and maybe i won't be so sad if my pain makes a great song
and maybe all the angst you caused will turn out for the best
or maybe i'll die all alone along with all the rest
but when clouds fly over and the sky is almost blue
when the ocean's waves drown out every lousy thought of you
i think that in that place of perfect solitude
i'll find a way to carry on without the help of you
waiting for your eyes to tell me something i don't know
waiting for the ties that bind to bring me to the shore
and let me dance upon the waves so peaceful and carefree
and take me far away from all the pain you brought to me
i'm waiting to be told that life is catching up to me

Overall, this is a lot better than some works I've read by self-proclaimed poets on this site. However I'm not a big fan of rhyme, in fact I dislike it quite a bit. I think that if less concentration is spent on rhyme, it's a lot easier to get across your emotions...even though this isn't the type of poetry I usually like, it has potential...
