Time for my annual posting on deviantart.  Been a while since I posted anything major on here.  Been focusing a lot on code recently.  Probably why not a lot of new art.  Maybe I'll post some fonts or something that I've been working on.  Anyways.  Thought I'd kick around the old stomping grounds a bit.

So apparently one of my drawings was on the www.art4love.com website.  but it was an image that wasn't very high res, and the only evidence left is on google cache.  I get the feeling this guy never actually sold anything, because the prices were all outrageous, and my file wasn't good enough for print, so I bet a bunch of others weren't either.

but good luck to everyone suing the guy.  tell me if it leads to anything.

which is apparently the last time i did anything on here... being employed doing art will do that to you...

so i've been working at knott's berry farm for a while now.  pumping out drawings for kaman's art shoppes.  whenever we have a slow day, i try to fill the time by rubbing out a decent celebrity demo.  although it seems that usually the celebrities i choose aren't really all that popular.  heh.  oh well.

i work as a sign carver now as well.  ... i might upload some of those when i make some more.

sorry i never update anymore guys.  i promise i will try to have another big page o crap once spring break is over.

sorry i don't post here more.  i don't journal very much these days, and if i do, i do it over at [link]

sorry, da, it's too hard to post so many places.

i just got done with my second set of lord of the rings cards.  i ended up doing a whole stack of these gandalfs.

Gandalfs

i consider it a necessary evil.  but i'm just glad i'm finally done with this set.  the threat of it was looming large over the holiday season, and i was afraid i wasn't going to finish like my marvel set.  but i hunkered down, and busted them out, and now i can breathe easy.  now i just have a couple commission heroes cards to do, and then the second marvel run starting late january.  HOORAY!

i got a webcam again a while ago, and i've been using it recently to show people what i'm up to.  i know i've pretty much been off the radar artistically lately, but i think i'll be updating my webcam a lot in the coming weeks/months, as i do more sketchcards.  so if you're interested in what i'm doing at the moment, check out my webcam periodically.

i updated my website's color scheme, and started in on a fresh set of ladies.  tell me what you think.

i am out of ideas and want to draw.  i also am out of money, and i want to make it out to sdcc, like so many others out there.  so, taking cue from some other people on here, i am open for commissions.  character sketches, character inks, and we can talk about characters colored.
so i recently bought a new webcam, and hamcam is back up and running, after an absence of about 3 or 4 years.  i got a nice little logitech messenger cam, and i'm running it with a little piece of open source software called Dorgem.  it's good stuff if you need some free and easy webcamming.

anyways, i know webcams are totally the way to be cool... in 1998... but i still love em.  i met some amazing friends back when i was camportalling, and it's always fun to let people into the way i draw.  plus, voyeurism is hot shit.  WHO KNOWS WHEN I'LL BE NAKED!  i could be naked right now, you wouldn't know... or would you?

No doubt you've all seen the big push deviantart is making for this BT and Thomas dolby tour.  Well I've been selected as an artist who's art will be shown for the Tucson show at the famous Rialto Theatre.  So if you're in the Tucson area, stop by the show, and we'll all storm Bison Witches afterwards.  If you see a guy with a golfer's cap on, ask him if he likes yoyos and maybe we can talk shop.

if you have my scraps devwatched, then you already know that i dumped in my website backdrops in there.  these are a project in minimalism for me.  i'm trying to get the most out of an essentially three color scheme.  i've set up a bunch of little rules for myself that weren't all in effect for the first two.  but now i got it pretty well down.  i really like the milla jovovich one.  it's what the mandy moore one should've been if that photo hadn't been totally weird in the first place.

anyways.  i guess if some of the people don't have my journal watched, they'll miss out too.  and don't get me started on people who don't even watch me at all.

... losers.  seriously.  what's with them?

apparently i'm wrong

Sun Apr 9, 2006, 11:32 PM
well it would seem that most people use favorites for themselves.  i've always thought of favorites as an outlet for myself to pimp other artists and artworks that i like.  but i guess most people just use it as a way to remember art themselves.  go figure.

i still don't like people that fav tons and tons of things.  i just don't like that at all.some people think that i should just be grateful, and maybe if i was hurting for favs i should be, but i'm not, and so i can afford to be picky.  i really don't appreciate getting faved by people who have accounts with nothing but favs in them, especially if their favs are on random.  i like to go to people's site and see their art, not someone else's.

so i guess it all comes down to my situation.  when i go to someone else's page i don't care about their favs, i just want to see their art, and when people come to mine, i want them to see the stuff i'm currently digging.

random favorites

Rant time!

You know something that really bothers me?  people who favorite a million things a day.  what're you faving that much shit for?  to remember it?  probaby not.  to boost someone's score?  what do you care?  you know what else i don't like?  random favorites.  why would anyone make their favorites random?  one of the major reasons for HAVING favorites, is so that you can show people who come to your site other stuff you're looking at.  but if they aren't seeing what you want them to see now, then your plug is useless.  i think of all the things da has done, random favorites has just encouraged people to give out favs left and right wantonly.  and i think favorites should serve a purpose.

SUCH IS MY RANT!

Well, I finally got around to separating my sites.  From now on, www.hamiltondraws.com will just be my art gallery, and www.hamiltoncline.com will hold all of the other stuff i do, like my scripting, and my weblog.  It's been a long time coming, and I'm so relieved to finally have it done.  I've tried to only upload the best art to my new gallery, and I'm creating new backdrops all the time.  I hope you guys also like the new image I uploaded here.  It's actually something i created ages ago, and then never uploaded here.  :/

In more personal news, I'm now a line cook at a local bistro.  It's a nice little place, and I'm learning very fast.  The movie "Waiting" makes so much more sense to me now.

Until next time.

Things I don't like

Sun Aug 28, 2005, 2:58 AM
I hate firefox

I do not, however, hate DeerPark.  Maybe it's because i love beta software.  Maybe it's because mozilla finally renders a no display td correctly.  I don't know.  Maybe it's because DeerPark is a superior name, in almost every aspect, to firefox.  I mean, I'm all for alliteration, but come ON!  DeerPark, it just... POPS!  I still prefer maxthon, but if mozilla keeps going the way they're going they'll be my number two.

Opera still bites hole.

dammit

Sat Aug 13, 2005, 12:39 AM
you guys and your yellow crusade are messing with my time table

really, i mean come on.  i'd love to join in your little protest, but I GOT ART TO SHOW.  and now everyone's leaving and taking down galleries, and goddammit, all you're gonna do is make the site go bye bye.  if you think anything, short of the legal battle currently happening, is going to change spyed's modus operandi, you are deceiving yourself.

the only thing you could possibly do is make him think this site is no longer profitable (or worse yet, a monetary loss) and he would remove or reduce the site.  HEY THAT SOUNDS FUN, DON'T IT?  preservation through destruction?  well guess what, that sucks.  like i said, i still got art to show, and there IS a legal battle happening.  so until that goes through, STOP YOUR PROTESTING.  protesting does nothing except raise awareness to START legal proceedings (or to incite riots).  when the legal proceedings are already underway, all you're doing is mucking it up for everyone else.

and another thing, "showing your support" when you know nothing but hearsay about a topic is pretty dumb (and really, the only way to show support is monetarily).  and, dare i say, sheep-like.  and yes, i've read all the literature.  and most of it is just jark's letter, because everything else is COMPLETELY HEARSAY.  and tho jark seems like a nice enough guy, all i've heard is his side of the story, because he's trying to rally an army, while spyed is clearly keeping calm and going through the legal circuit.  i don't know who did what.  neither do you.  YOU DONT KNOW!

anyways.

what was i saying?  oh yeah.  i got art to show, and no amount of "we can use your art on our site" is going to make me take down my gallery.  have any of you even READ a legal document before?

The newest feature in the already powerful maxthon browser is a built-in RSS reader.  Now when browsing websites, you can simply click the globe icon to load up any RSS feeds from the current webpage into the RSS reader.  You can also customize the items that appear in the status bar, and the pulldowns in the commands menu.  These among the multitude of other already current features, such as mouse gestures, tabbed browsing, url aliases, search aliases, download controls (such as JavaScript, activex, images, media), and many other small additions that become impossible to live without.

Maxthon is more stable and more secure than regular old IE, and more plugins get released for it every day.  It is a major contender in the current browser market, and it's worth giving a try.
